The challenge

Following changes of technical solutions, Air Caraïbes entrusts us with a substantial project: rethinking several of its user spaces. Without reinventing everything, the brand's visual identity stays and the existing design system is our starting point.

Project brief

There are projects everyone at the agency wants to be on at the same time, and Air Caraïbes is clearly one of them. Palm trees and lagoons scrolling past in the mockups during a Lyon or Bordeaux winter: we’re not going to complain!

We work for a few weeks on three separate scopes. First, the Préférence area, aimed at loyal customers, which we rethink from top to bottom. Then the flight booking funnel, which is migrating to a more modern technical solution that we bring back in line with the brand guidelines. And finally, we give the B2B portal biz.aircaraibes.com a redesign.

Loyalty area

A laptop on a coffee table shows the page of mile offers, next to a hand holding a phone open on the Préférence area.

The loyalty area is, without a doubt, one of a brand’s most important stakes. Users should be able to quickly understand their benefits and see their points. Here, Air Caraïbes wants an attractive, dynamic loyalty area that relies as much as possible on its existing components.

It needs to be consistent in design terms and blend into the art direction already in place. But beyond visual beauty, we think first of the user experience and of what we need to highlight so that everything is clear.

So a bit of UX work is needed before we get to the design layer! Fortunately, things fall into place very quickly, and working in parallel with the Air Caraïbes team is genuinely smooth. We end up with a new loyalty area in line with the brand’s identity.

Purchase funnel

Air Caraïbes finds itself in a tricky situation: adapting to a technical migration. It turns to our services to adapt to the new constraints while keeping the brand’s art direction. Here, we want to keep as much as possible of what makes Air Caraïbes Air Caraïbes: those large blue flat areas, those enchanting images and its unique style.

Very quickly, the first constraints become obvious: we are given a very strict and complicated design system that has to be reused as much as possible. We want to avoid creating custom components wherever we can. Getting into it is therefore already a complicated step: we have to understand how their partner’s design system works, manage to modify it just enough but not too much, and keep the whole thing attractive. A difficult challenge, but not an impossible one.

Hand in hand with our teams, the Air Caraïbes teams and the technical teams, we finally manage to propose a solution that keeps the creation of new components to a minimum while still preserving the brand’s universe. For us, it is essential to deliver something of quality that is as pleasant to look at as it is to use.

B2B portal biz.aircaraibes.com

A computer screen shows the portal's home page, the Air Caraïbes and French bee logos side by side, above a flight search module and a News section.

We step in here for a very specific need: bringing their two brands together through a hybrid site. We therefore have to blend Air Caraïbes’ rather strong graphic identity with that of their French Bee brand, which is more low-cost oriented.

It is important that both customer types recognise themselves in it.

By proposing many directions and mockups, we managed to find an ideal graphic compromise for merging the two brands. Simple, consistent and attractive, the two brands blend together very well!

The result?

A collaboration on several fronts that worked very well and let us escape a little. It is still worth noting that, while we loved working with our heads in the clouds and our eyes full of gorgeous photos, this project also let us work on several topics at once and build our skills in internal and external collaboration.
